19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's initial championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from that period of the previous year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led some to question if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional victory, took control to create a decider.

He rescued four early chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
