The January recruitment period is always a time of feverish rumour and potential big-money transfers. Numerous high-profile stars are being linked with transfers out of their current teams. We examine some of the major figures that might be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' inability to reach the AFCON, which has kept the forward in contention, it appears an important transfer is close. The 25-year-old has a deal featuring a substantial buy-out clause applicable for a two-week period at the start of the month. Latest reports point to Manchester City have emerged as his signature. Other suitors like Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have turned their attention to other targets, potentially opening the door for clubs such as Liverpool or Manchester United to make a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

The England centre-back has impress for Crystal Palace this season a previous move to Liverpool falling through. As his contract due to run out in the close season, this represents the London club's final chance to secure a transfer fee for their captain. A host of elite sides, such as City and several continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to be interested. However, a winter exit is considered unlikely, especially given the coach's dependence on the defender.

Brennan Johnson

This Wales forward has had starting opportunities hard to come by at Spurs this campaign. Although being the side's top scorer the previous campaign, Johnson has started only a handful of league games. Reports suggest the North London outfit is willing to consider a sale for the correct price, thought to be in the around forty million pounds. The Cherries appear to be leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also showing an interest.

Tottenham rate the Welsh international at around £40m.

Rúben Neves

The Portugal playmaker could be set for a return to the Premier League following a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still only twenty-eight, while his agreement expiring in the summer, he is a potential bargain. Teams like Liverpool and Manchester United have been connected to the former Wolves man. Additionally, there are suggestions from Spanish media that he is prepared to take a pay cut for a switch to Real Madrid.

M. ter Stegen

The experienced Germany goalkeeper finds himself as third-choice at Barcelona following the coach Flick. After fallen out of favour and had surgery, a winter exit seems increasingly likely. Villa were once mentioned as a potential destination, but that move currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be showing interest in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

This proven England centre-forward has continued scoring regularly in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League could enhance his fading chances of being in the England squad. However, arranging a transfer presents significant challenges. His current club do not wish to part with him, and his alleged huge weekly wages render any move difficult. The manager has confirmed the temporary transfer won't become permanent. Due to specific rules about playing for multiple teams in a campaign, a move back to Liverpool before next summer seems to be the sole viable solution.

K. Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkey attacker has been in fine form for Juventus this term. With his current deal running down, many Premier League sides – including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are keeping tabs on the developments. Juventus are eager to tie down the 20-year-old to a new long-term contract but are in a race to retain one of the continent's brightest young talents.

K. Smit

This much-admired Dutch midfielder has earned comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. The teenager is widely tipped to complete a big-money move this month. Newcastle reportedly are leading the chase, but are facing stiff rivalry from Real Madrid for a deal priced at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
